Trossard’s injury during the Bournemouth game.

During Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners’ Belgian forward had to leave the match due to a groin problem, while Eddie Nketiah was absent from the squad due to an ankle injury.

“It is a worry,” Mikel Arteta said of the injury in his post-match press conference. “He came to me and said ‘I cannot continue, I felt something when I was tracking back after the corner’. We had to take him off and we have to assess him and see how he is.”

However, the initial assessment of Leandro Trossard’s injury suggests that it is not a serious one. Although he is still being evaluated, it is unlikely that he will be fit in time for the Europa League round of 16 match against Sporting Lisbon on Thursday.

As a result, Arsenal may face difficulties up front, but they do have alternatives in Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe, who has previously played in that position.

Smith Rowe is expected to be available for the match against Sporting Lisbon, as his substitution in the previous game was due to tactical reasons rather than injury. Arsenal will make a decision regarding Nketiah’s availability for the match closer to the time.

GunnerBanana’s POV

There’s no need for concern regarding the absence of a traditional striker in our front line. As demonstrated by our ability to bounce back from a two-goal deficit against Bournemouth even after Trossard’s substitution, we can persevere by playing to our strengths.

With sufficient squad depth, we can navigate upcoming games until Gabriel Jesus and Nketiah are back in the lineup.

Our players need to maintain their self-belief and energetic drive to power through opposing defenses.
